The ice hockey world championships are being held in Helsinki and Tampere, Finland, this Friday. It was the second strong time of the season for the national teams after the Beijing Olympics in February, where the Finns triumphed. After three years in prison for pandemic, the championship will be played again in public, but without the teams from Russia and Belarus, suspended following the invasion of Ukraine and which were replaced by France and l’Autriche.
This double absence raises the medal hopes of other teams, including the Czechs, who have not picked up since 2012. In Group B, the Czech national team led by Finnish coach Kari is Jalonentrée at the tournament Saturday with a match against Britain.
