The open tennis tournament proposed by the Villeneuve club ended on Saturday with the presentation of prizes for the various categories, in the presence of Alain D’Amato, deputy mayor. Yoann Belot, president, recalled that the tournament had been suspended due to Covid for 2 years. He took the moment to point out that the town hall of Villeneuve had last year renovated the lands with a new resin and new colors.
105 players took part in the tournament, in an organization made entirely of volunteers. Alain D’Amato congratulated sportsmen and organizers and then added: “The municipality wants the sport to find its letters of nobility in the commune. It’s true that for two years, it has been very complicated for you all but, today, to see everyone, all these matches for 15 days, it’s really nice to be without masks and to start a near -normal life “.
Referee Fabrice Reby was honored for his availability, knowing that on weekends the peak time was 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. He has been a line judge at the prestigious Roland-Garros and Monaco tournaments.
After the presentation of prizes to the finalists and winners, an aperitif closes the beautiful tennis quarters in Villeneuve.
