Montauban Tennis Open: Harold Mayot hopes to reach the Top 300

the essential
The ATM tennis tournament continues with a French hope, Harold Mayot (20 years old). Rencontre.

Series No. 2 head of the tournament, Harold Mayot did not tremble yesterday afternoon, for his entry into the final table of the Montauban Open. The one who won the Australian Open Junior in 2020 swept his compatriot Benjamin Piétri in two small sets (6/2, 6/2) in one hour and eight minutes.

How do you approach a tournament like this one and how important are you given to the open of Montauban?

It’s a tournament that I play first like everyone else, I play all year, this one is a $ 25,000 tournament like I play almost every week. This is an important tournament, I will try to do well here, make the most and try to get to the end.

What is your goal in relation to your place in the world rankings (405th ATP)?

I’m going to try to get closer to the top 300, it would be nice to see that I’m in the top 400. It’s a bit of an objective that I set for this end of the season, even if I’m going to have points to defend and I hope to have a nice end of the year and finish at least in the top 300, that would be fine.

What do you think of the start of the season?

I had a pretty complicated start to the season with few wins. I had trouble finding my rhythm, finding my benchmarks on the court. For a few weeks, I think it’s going a little better; so I’m going to try to continue on this line, continue to train myself hard. In sports, one can be in difficulty for six months and explode everything in a month or two; so this is what I am looking for today and I hope it arrives before the end of the 2022 season.
