Medvedev and demonstrations in Halle

Daniil Medvedev, who won world No. 1 and outscored David Goffin in two sets 6-3, 6-2 for his entry into the Halle tournament.

World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev started the Halle tournament in an expeditious way against Belgium’s David Goffin (39th).

Surprised in the final at Hertogenbosch on Sunday by Dutchman Tim Van Rijthoven, the Russians very easily prevailed 6-3, 6-2 at 1:04 p.m. He will face Belarus Ilya Ivashka (42nd) in the eighth final.

Aided by an effective service (79% of points earned behind his first service), Medvedev was relentless in pushing his opponent back, breaking very quickly to 2-1 in the first set and early in the second half. Harapin si Goffin who had his first match on grass this year, he controlled the whole match, conceding only two break balls, before imposing in two sets.

Medvedev will be private at Wimbledon (June 27 – July 10) following the decision by the organizers of the London Grand Chelem tournament to ban the participation of the Russians and Belarusians due to the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
