HOCKEY. Mathieu Gravel is back behind the Voltigeurs bench.
The 37-year-old hockey man was named assistant coach of the drummondvilloise formation on Monday. I had held the same title during the 2016-2017 season, while Dominique Ducharme led the team in company with Steve Hartley.
Over the last five seasons, Mathieu Gravel has served as an assistant coach in the Patriotes program at the University of Quebec in Trois-Rivières. Earlier this year, he helped the organization report on the Canadian University Championship.
At the Voltigeurs, Mathieu Gravel will oversee the development of the defenders.
“It is a great pride for me to return to Drummondville and coach the Voltigeurs players,” Mathieu Gravel said in a press release. I like the experience in 2016-2017 with Dominique Ducharme and Steve Hartley. The challenge of making progress the players and the coming years that advertise so well in Drummondville also weighed in on the balance for my return with the Rouges. Voltigeurs general manager Philippe Boucher was pleased with this employment.
“Mathieu has experience in the LHJMQ as a player, but also as a coach. He already knows the Voltigeurs organization, more for him and for us. It is dedicated to the development of players and can bring an enriching experience to our defensive brigade, ”he explained.
Origin of Greenfield Park, Mathieu Gravel and evolué avec les Cataractes de Shawinigan and Drakkar de Baie-Comeau and LHJMQ. The former striker has also worked behind the Drakkar bench at Saint-Hyacinthe Gauls as well as in Hockey Canada’s under-17 program.
The Voltigers are still in search of an assistant coach following the departure of Mathieu Turcotte and Alexander Guérard at the end of last season.
