Basketball: First Pre-selection with the 2023 Games in the spotlight

The Mahoraise Basketball League announced this Wednesday, a list of 65 players and 39 players. A first selection to prepare for the Malagasy games, next summer.

The silver medalists in 2019, in Mauritius, start a new commando mission, the Malagasy games next year. Certainly the goal should be the gold medal, this time, in 2023. For the women’s selection, we want to do better before 2019, where the girls had been eliminated from the cockfighting phase.

4 selection baskets in 2023

Mayotte will have teams in the classic competitions at 5 against 5 but also at 3 against 3, which we discovered at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

It is therefore necessary to attract about twenty players and the same number of players to wear the Mayotte jersey in Madagascar. 16 will be selected for the 5 vs. 5 and 7 tournament for the 3 vs. 3 tournament

For this first gathering, sixty players were summoned, among the men, we found in particular 9 who are evolving in the hexagon, including the future player of the Roanne Choir, Kadri Moendadze or Austin Rasolonjatovo again in the 20th. the mahorais who flourish in La Réunion, Samir Akilaby and Anli-Saïd Souffou. 44 players playing in Mayotte are also pre-selected.

All the players present in 2019 and silver medalists in Mauritius are part of the pre-selection, with the exception of Insa Souffou, who has since retired.

Among the ladies, the pre-selection has 38 players including Céline Pfister and Caroline Plust who had led their respective teams, Fuz’ellips in 2019 at Golden Force in 2021, to snatch, in particular, the Mayotte title.

All this beautiful world will meet last weekend in June for a reunion. Then, a list of 23 players, selected for the Malagasy games, will be released.
