a name to watch to join the CH hockey organization

Where a good moment is Kent Hughes est à la barre du Canadien de Montréal, where six months earned the post of DG de l’équipe. In fact, it will take five months in a few days.

Oh, during this short period, Hughes worked with a lot of employees: Martin St-Louis, Vincent Lecavalier, Marie-Phillip Poulin and I pass: the list is pretty long.

However, there are still posts to fill at CH hockey organigramme, and there is a supervisor name who could come up with one of those posts: Steve Staios. That’s at least what Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman think.

The reason is very simple: Staios is currently the CEO of the Hamilton Bulldogs in the OHL. Oh, the team owner, Michael Andlauer, is pretty close to Tricolore given that the Bulldogs have been the CH school club for several years.

Andlauer was in particular part of the selection committee that finally chose Kent Hughes as DG of the CH.

Staios, who is the CEO of Jan Mysak and Arber Xhekaj in the OHL, could therefore bring himself to Montreal. He is also a minority owner of the Bulldogs, but I doubt that would pose a problem if he wanted to join an LNH organization.

Note, however, that Tricolore risks not being the only team that could be interested in Staios’ services. The Oilers, for whom the former defender has played for several years in the LNH, could well be interested in his services, too.

If Staios ever had to join Tricolore, I would have seen him well in an assistant post at Kent Hughes. He knows Mysak and Xhekaj well, but he has also seen other youngsters play in the OHL. Shane Wright, for example.

In fact, it will be seen if this idea is materialized, but it is certainly something to watch out for. There will be jobs in Montreal this summer, and he will have to see Staios take part.

A rafale

– Samuel Montembeault was passing 91.9 Sports today. It is notably a return on his post-career plans, on the state of his hand and on the Suzuki-Caufield duo.

– Take a good look at Brayden Point.

– Guhle will have to find time to breathe a little this summer. Will the CH stop him from going to the Junior Hockey World Championships in August (even if Guhle wants to go)?

– Retirement for Carter Hutton.

– Interesting.
